We are organizing the second Havle Meet-up, where we have the chance to leave behind the times when the pandemic left us longing for physical meetings, to talk face to face and listen to each other! In the context of November 25, in the second meeting which will be held on November 27, we will talk about our research on gender-based violence that we carried out this year.
The theme of the meet up titled “Naming Violence: Women’s Religious Belonging and Their Ways to Survive Violence” is the following:
In this meetup, where we discuss our research data, Burcu Kalpaklıoğlu will talk about the ways in which women who practice religion in different ways evaluate violence and abuse against women, how they refer or do not refer to religious and social values when making this evaluation, and the complex relationships between social gender-based violence and social values. She will also discuss the ways in which women cope with violence, while also revealing the people, the institutions, and the discourses which cooperate with them and those which hindered them while experiencing it.
The speaker of Havle Meetings this time, Burcu Kalpaklıoğlu, is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Amsterdam and also works as a researcher in our association.
